Completing Business Tax forms
The majority of the pages in Business Tax use the same methods of entering data and similar boxes, for ease of use. Once you know how to fill in one of the pages, the rest should be simple.
You can find details on each page within the Reference section
This section takes you through the process of completing a Business Tax form and shows you how to enter data into all the types of field you will encounter in Business Tax.
Steps in completing a Business Tax form
- Ensure you are in the correct view, you need to be in the Accounting Period view to enter data regarding the companies accounts, and in the Assessment Year view to enter information concerning overlap profits.
- Find the form in the Navigator , then open it by clicking on the page name.
- Here you will see the fields that you have to complete. However, if you look at the top of the form, you will notice that most forms will have a number of tabs which have more data entry fields on them. You can tell the tab you are on as it appears further forward than the rest.
- If you change to a different form after you have entered some data, you will notice that a will appear next to the form's label on the Navigator. This means that the form is marked as incomplete. Any form which you have entered data into, but not marked as complete will be marked like this so you know which forms have data on and which don't (as blank forms stay unmarked).
- Once you are satisfied that you have entered all the correct information, on all the tabs, you need to mark the form as completed. You do this by clicking in the Completed box that appears in the corner of all Business Tax forms. This will be indicated by the that will then appear next to the form on the Navigator Tree. If later on, things change and this data does turn out to be incomplete, the form can be returned to incomplete status simply by removing the tick from the Completed box by clicking it.
- Finally, you can attach notes to each form if you wish, by clicking Notes on the toolbar.
You can enter different types of Note:
When there are forms with notes added to them they will appear on the Navigator with a small post-it note on them .
Note: You can choose to include any Practice or Computation notes you make on the plain paper reports you generate in Business Tax.
